Tyson’s respect for Zedong came while in prison where he read several books about the leader. It was while inside that Tyson decided to get a portrait tattoo of Zedong, with his name “Mao” tattooed underneath. In 2006 Tyson visited the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, with the Chicago Tribune reporting Tyson said, “Standing in front of Chairman Mao’s remains, I felt really insignificant. To have the chance to visit the memorial hall is a great honor for me.”

Desiree Washington, a Miss Black America contestant, files accusations that Iron Mike tried to rape her. Mike denies the claims, but despite it, he ends up in jail. The judge sends him to prison for 10 years. After only 3 years he is out of there, released because of good behavior.

“I learned about life from my losses. I’ve learned that as I get older and I lose my friends, my children, my teeth, my hair—and eventually, I’m going to lose my life—life is all about loss,” he says. “We’re going to be old one day. We’re going to lose our teeth, lose our eyesight, lose our hair, lose our dick, lose everything we thought made us who we were. We’re going to lose our identity. In the end, we’ll be grateful if someone has a picture of us on the family wall, if they even put up a picture of us.”

Tyson’s increasing winning streak attracted stakeholders in the boxing works, including the media. But sadly, as soon as his career was set to take off, D’amato died. Pundits credit the death of the man who guided Tyson in his early career as the root of the troubles Tyson will experience in his glamorous career.

On 15 January 2024, it was announced that Zhang would be facing former WBO champion Joseph Parker, with the fight scheduled to occur on 8 March 2024 as the co-main event of the Knockout Chaos event, at Riyadh’s Kingdom Arena. Zhang was defeated by Parker in a majority points decision, in which two judges had it for Parker, 114–112 and 115–111, and one judge had it even at 113–113.

Legendary heavyweight world champion “Iron” Mike Tyson was one of the most feared fighters in boxing history. In Tyson’s prime, he was an absolute beast in the ring, a knockout artist chaining electric finishing performances together like a freight train mowing down his opponents. Fighters cowered at the sight of him, and were mentally defeated before the first punch was ever thrown.

Hrgovic gave Zhang his first career loss, but not without some controversy as many boxing fans believed Zhang deserved to win the closely-contested bout. Zhang didn’t let the loss define him, instead coming back and box getting a career-best win over then undefeated British heavyweight Joe Joyce in his next fight.

This marked Rose’s second defeat in a bet against her dad, as she had previously lost to him. On this particular occasion, the stakes were even higher, as the consequence of her loss required her to sport a Mike Tyson-inspired face tattoo.

The 2008 Olympic silver medalist from China, began his career later than most, turning professional at 31. He steadily worked his way up the heavyweight division until securing a fight with Filip Hrgovic, who features on the undercard, in 2022.

I never saw my mother happy with me and proud of me for doing something: She only knew me as being a wild kid running the streets, coming home with new clothes that she knew I didn’t pay for. I never got a chance to talk to her or know about her. Professionally, it has no effect, but it’s crushing emotionally and personally.

After the loss, Tyson recovered with first-round knockouts of Henry Tillman and Alex Stewart in his next two fights. Tyson’s victory over Tillman, the 1984 Olympic heavyweight gold medalist, enabled Tyson to avenge his amateur losses at Tillman’s hands. These bouts set up an elimination match for another shot at the undisputed world heavyweight championship, which Evander Holyfield had taken from Douglas in his first defense of the title.

Amidst this turbulent backdrop, Tyson made a decision that would reverberate far beyond the confines of the boxing world. In 2003, during a trip to Las Vegas, he sought the services of renowned tattoo artist Victor Whitmill to etch an indelible symbol of cultural significance onto his face. The chosen design, a striking Maori-inspired facial tattoo, held profound personal significance for Tyson, serving as a visual testament to his inner journey and the enduring resilience that had carried him through life’s trials and tribulations.

The trainer said he wasn’t sure what to “expect from a guy who hasn’t hit mitts for – I think – almost ten years,” Corderio told TalkSport. During the boxing session, Tyson clips together powerful punches so we can see his greatest moments. His trainer notes, “I held his right hook and thought ‘he is going to kill somebody’.” Watch the video to see for yourself, we wouldn’t want to get behind any of those, even in full body armor gear.

Tyson’s mother died when he was 16, leaving him in the care of D’Amato, who would become his legal guardian. Tyson later said, “I never saw my mother happy with me and proud of me for doing something: she only knew me as being a wild kid running the streets, coming home with new clothes that she knew I didn’t pay for. I never got a chance to talk to her or know about her. Professionally, it has no effect, but it’s crushing emotionally and personally.”
